Cool Stuff: The ?Just People? ?Jurassic Park? Art Show

Quick, what's the first thing you think of when you think of Jurassic Park? Did you say the T-Rex? Of course you did. That's the iconic image used in all the marketing, its scenes are some of the most exciting in the movie and he's by far the most famous and popular dinosaur. (Velociraptor probably comes in second simply because no one had heard of them before the movies.)

What's sometimes forgotten about Jurassic Park, though, are its inhabitants. The people. The cool, calm, collected Dr. Alan Grant. The sexy, smart, super kick ass Dr. Ellie Sattler. The quirky, genius mathematician Dr. Ian Malcolm. These are the reasons why Jurassic Park has endured through pop culture for almost two decades and these people, not the dinosaurs, are the subjects of a new art exhibit happening December 3 and 4 at Gallery Nuclues in Alhambra, CA. It's called The JP Show where "JP" stands for "Just People" instead of "Jurassic Park." Check out a bunch of images from the show after the jump.

Thanks to [2] for the heads up. Here are some pieces from The JP Show. Mouse over each for the artist name.

That's just a sample. The full show goes online here [3] on December 5.

However, to see The JP Show in person, head to Gallery Nucleus on December 3 and 4 at 210 East Main St., Alhambra CA 91801. The opening reception is at 6 p.m. Saturday and it'll be open from noon-8 p.m. Sunday. Head to Gallery Nucleus [4] or curator Brandon Bird's website [5] for more information.
